Dryer Vents Covered in snow

With the snow coming, it might be a good time to talk about dryer vents. I'm sure not many people are thinking about keeping their dryer vents clear. What's the point, the heat will melt the snow, right? Maybe.....

Did you know a blocked vent for a gas dryer will not allow any carbon monoxide to escape, potentially creating a hazardous to lethal condition in your home? It's a good idea to install a carbon monoxide alarm near gas appliances.

Did you know a blocked dryer vent increases the lint buildup in the duct increasing the risk of a fire?

Did you know a blocked dryer vent does not allow the moisture to escape, keeping the dryer running longer, using more energy?

Dryer Vent

Remember to clean your dryer vent ducts as part of routine maintenance. This will help reduce the risk of fires and possible CO emergencies in your home as well and increase the efficiency of your dryer!

Before you start using your fireplace for the season, you should get it cleaned by a qualified contractor. Did you know creosote is toxic buildup is a big fire hazard. Other common side effects are respiratory issues, skin irritation and after long term exposures possible cancer.
